When you were one-and-twenty
You heard me say a truth
But you're eyes rolled and ears shut
My words were crumbled by ignorance like brittle bismuth
You wouldn't listen to my words of wisdom
I told you to keep your fancy free
But you were one-and-twenty
So you didn't listen to me

When you were one-and-twenty
You never listened to my word
I kept saying them to you
But I remained unheard
Then something happened you're wisdom is no longer empty
Something that i thought was absurd
You are two-and-twenty
And i was finally heard
